If you read our last blog post about creating successful decks, then you’ll have realized that information that is represented visually, through charts and graphs is highly effective to an audience. This week, I want to talk about the highly popular, infographic.

Infographics are visual representations of information or data. Marketers use them on their blogs or in presentations to stimulate the audience and get them thinking about important information through design elements that are easy to understand.

Information can be absorbed at a glance and generally infographics tend to capture the viewers attention and keep it for a longer period of time. Most people are visual learners, but infographics can also contain text.

Think of infographics as a storybook with pictures that relay to your audience the message that you want to convey. As best practices for creating infographics, you should make sure you cross these off your lists before sharing:

  • Research facts and statistics.
  • Reference facts in your infographic.
  • Develop and showcase a narrative.
  • Use a consistent color scheme.
  • Convey your message simply and concisely.
  • Make sure your argument has no gaps in logic.
  • State conclusions that can be implemented.
  • Make sure to include your site as a copyright.

After making sure your infographic meets this criteria (you can make your own criteria) SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!!!

One of the reasons why content marketers love infographics is because is shareability. They have tons of potential in the link building department, they can even go viral! Infographics are also great for brand awareness (make sure you add your logo, as I suggested before).

If you think all these benefits of making infographics are great but don’t know a designer there are several websites to build one at no cost. Here are some that we love!
