Facebook has announced an update to its promotions policy, which details how page owners and users may operate their contests and sweepstakes through its platform. Businesses now have the ability to administer promotions directly on their timelines, and no longer through a third-party application.
They are now able to collect entries through liking, commenting, messaging and posting to the brands page, or a voting medium. As before the updates, administrators are prohibited from placing promotions on personal timelines. Furthermore, brands cannot ask or encourage fans/followers to tag themselves in content they are not depicted in as an entry into the promotion.
